Weekend Review

It's time for a little weekend review, however, I'm gonna skip Friday b/c....well....Friday was boring. Saturday was spent in various places, in the office watching the Nooma video for Sunday's class. (if you've never seen a Nooma video by Rob Bell def. check 'em out) Saturday night went over to Hartford to help out with their Trunk-or-Treat. (we woulda had one but they have a much better location for one than us) It was a nice set up, lots of little dudes showed up to get their fair share of candy. It's a great ministry opportunity to offer up a safe and fun place for kids to trick-or-treat.
Sunday Sunday Sunday! Sunday was the Mustangs' (the 6th-8th grade team I coach) bowl game. The defense came on strong keeping the Steelers in negative yardage in the first half, we were sacking the QB like crazy and stopping them in the backfield like they were nothing. Our offense came in with some great plays running it in from 5 yards for a TD after a blocked punt. The next TD came from a 40 yard pass with a little misdirection thrown in. At the half it was 14-0.
The 2nd half the other team came in with guns blazing. They knew they had to pick it up. After a few good runs around our right side they scored making the score 14-6. Their defense came in hard nosed and kept us from scoring the 2nd half. It became a defensive battle and we kept them from scoring anymore ending the game the our Mustangs winning 14-6! Finishing the season w/ an awesome record of 7-2!
Sunday evening was Agape's Annual Fall Fest. A great evening of volleyball, football, s'mores, singing, and just good ol' fellowship with each other.

Adam's Top 10 of the Fall Fest
10. Me, "It's just about having fun" Kyle, "That doesn't sound like you at all." When talking about the volleyball
9. The little dudes in their costumes
8. The volleyball that just wouldn't go straight
7. Marilyn Jantz's version of "Clap Your Hands"
6. S'mores
5. The Titans beat Oakland (I know that didn't happen at Fall Fest, I'm just happy about it!)
4. "Just give it a little effort!"
3. Watching the kiddos bob for apples
2. Singing around the fire
1. Fellowshipping with friends and fellow Christians

A New Era For Agape

Tomorrow begins a new era for Agape church of Christ. Tomorrow our new preacher arrives. That means no more being the only one in the office, which should be a good thing. It'll be nice to have someone discuss stuff with, please the church will have a real preacher and not me up there. He'll do a much better job preaching than me. I've always been more of a discussion class type of guy rather than a preacher.

A Special Post

This next topic deserves it's own seperate post. Yesterday I recieved knews that my Pappy (grandfather) had gone to the hospital. Chest pains and such, they've ruled out a heart-attack but they have him on blood thinners for a possible blood clot. He's 82 and still the toughest guy I know. If anyone can get through this it's him, but please pray for him.

A Weekend of....Well A Bunch of Stuff

I wanna start of by saying a big get well to Jess Holder. Jess during his football game on Saturday broke the top of the arm bone off, you know the part that connects into the shoulder, yeah, that's gone. But hey bro, you got the first down!
While we're on the topic of Jess' football game on Saturday, as most of you know I'm one of the coaches. We played a rival team this week, if we won off to the championship, if we lost, it's a battle for third. The team we were playing has been known for cheating through-out the year, without any punishment by the head of the league. (I won't get started on that) Well throughout the game the other team had their fair share of clips, cleatings, and other various cheap shots. (including the one that took down Jess) I consider myself a patient person, but something should have been done to punish this team and their coaches. These coaches have taught their team that cheating is ok and w/ the lack of punishment the league has said if you get caught cheating their are no punishments. And we wonder why kids these days have no respect and no morals, it's because of adults like this and say it's ok.
But the day got better, Forrest, Tristan, Shade, Gavin, and Dax had a pretty sweet Halloween Party last night. Good food, good fun, great scares!

Mistakes

Mistakes, we all make them, even me. I know that's a shocker, but it's true. When we go through the Bible and look at some of the heroes of the Bible, the ones we consider of great faith, we see that they to made mistakes. Peter denied Jesus 3 times, David committed murder and adultery, and so on.
So we see that mistakes are made by everyone (except Jesus), but one thing everyone doesn't do is learn from those mistakes. Why is that, why is it that we can't learn from our mistakes? We see the results, we don't like them, yet we continue to make the mistake. Why? We're stupid and selfish. I'm encouraging everyone (including myself), don't be stupid, don't be selfish, think, and learn from your mistakes.

A Bad Weekend For Sports

Wow, everyone of my sports teams lost this weekend, EVERYONE. It is a bit depressing. Vandy...well...they pulled a Vandy. To use a quote Bill Ford uses about OSU, "another defeat snatched from the jaws of victory." I've grown used to that though, I promise you, Vandy could beat any team in college today.....if the game ended after 3 quarters, unfortunately it doesn't so Vandy continues to be Vandy.
My D-backs were back on top, I was very happy, even bought a new hat. But then they go and get swept by the Rockies and suddenly everyone is a Rockies fan, seriously, what's up w/ that?
Lastly, the one that is the most sad, my Titans lose to the Tampa Bay Bucs and Vince "inVINCEable" Young goes down w/ a quad injury. As of this moment he's listed as day-to-day. I need him to be ok! If he goes down so does our season and I really need a play-off birth for my Titans.
Luckily we still have my Mustangs. Yes, the Ponca City Mustangs. The 6th-8th grade team I help coach. One more win and we're in the championship and the same goes for the team we play next(Colts). And ironically it's a team that there isn't much love for.(if ya want the full story tell me) It seems to be a typical good vs. bad. (we're good) I've told them team when they win I'll bring them food at lunch to celebrate. Our pump up line right now is, "A colt is just a baby mustang!"

The Beginning of a Youth Ministers Blog

To blog or not to blog, that is the question. Apperently the answer is, "to blog". Now that we have that answered, let's go with why "to blog". We got a new minister joining us here at Agape, actually, our first full time pulpit minister, nice guy, he has the Adam Seal of Approval. He has a blog, everyone was like, why don't you have a blog or you need a blog or something along that level. Then I got to the point where I was like, "ok, cool, why not? Might as well get one." So here I am, with a blog. Will I keep up with it constantly, I have no idea, but I bet the moment people find out I have one, they will tell me when I need to update.
